Preparation of machine

Differential feed setting: set at N (HL 786, 788)
Needle: insert right needle (HL 784, 786, 787, 788)
Stitch width: N (with upper knife engaged)
Stitch length: 1.5 to 2.0 mm
Thread tension: right looper +2 to +4, left looper +2 to +4, needle thread -1 to -4

Sewing on lace:

1. Raise sewing foot and set needle up.
2. Loosen screw 3 and adjust guide 2 in such a way that during sewing the needle penetrates as close to the edge of the lace (and the fabric underneath) as possible. Tighten screw 3.
3. For sewing the lace on the fabric, simply run it through guide 2 along edge guide 1 (engage upper knife).
4. If the underlying fabric is not to be trimmed during the lace attaching, both the lace and the fabric must be guided flush along edge guide 1 (not illustrated).
5. Sew a test seam.
