This special sewing is used for sewing in gimp threads (cords, synthetic threads) up to a thickness of 1.0mm. By this means a wavy, i.e. more firm hem finish is achieved (e.g. on wedding dresses, curtains, etc.).

Preparation of machine

Differential feed setting: set at N (HL 796, 797,799)
Needle: insert needle C (HL 797,799), insert right needle (HL 794, 796)
Stitch width: 2.5 to 4mm (HL 797,799), N to 4mm (HL 793,794, 796)
Stitch length: 1.0 to 1.5mm
Thread tension (see also instr. man. HL, section >Rolled hem<): right looper  approx. N, left looper  +5, needle thread  approx. N

Inserting the gimp thread:

1. Raise sewing foot and set needle up.
2. Engage upper knife.
3. Place fabric under the sewing foot.
4. Thread gimp threat (cord) through hole 1, then place it in guide 2 of the sewing foot shoe.
5. Sew a test seam
